WASHINGTON -- La presidenta de la Cámara de Representantes Nancy Pelosi anunció el lunes que el presidente mexicano Felipe Calderón pronunciará un discurso durante una sesión bicameral del Congreso en su visita a esta ciudad este mes.


"El Congreso acogerá cálidamente al presidente Calderón cuando visite Estados Unidos durante su visita oficial", dijo la legisladora según un comunicado de prensa enviado por su despacho.

"Como presidente de México, nuestro vecino y amigo, deseamos escuchar el mensaje del presidente Calderón al pueblo estadounidense, y sus opiniones sobre la manera de fortalecer nuestras comunidades fronterizas, combatir el crimen organizado y reforzar la relación esencial entre nuestras dos naciones", agregó.
Durante su visita a Estados Unidos el 19 y 20 de mayo, Calderón acudirá también a una cena de estado que en su honor ofrecerá su colega estadounidense Barack Obama.

La relación bilateral entre México y Estados Unidos ha estado marcada por la lucha antidrogas adelantada por el gobierno de Calderón, la cual ha causado 22.700 muertes desde el 2006.

El predecesor de Calderón, Vicente Fox, se dirigió también a una sesión conjunta del Congreso estadounidense en el 2001.

Calderón will speak before the Congress of USA.

Washington--The president of the Camera of Representatives Nancy Pelosi announced on Monday that the Mexican president Felipe Calderón will pronounce a speech during a bicameral session of the Congress in his visit to this city this month.

"The Congress will welcome the president warmly, when Calderón visits the United States during his official visit", the legislator said, according to a press official statement sent by her office.

"As president from Mexico, our neighbor and friend, we want to listen to the president's message Calderón to the American town, and their opinions on the way of strengthening our border communities, to combat the organized crime and to reinforce the essential relationship among our two nations", she added.

During their visit to United States the 19 and 20 of May, Calderón will also go to a state dinner in his honor his American colleague Barack Obama will offer.

The bilateral relationship between Mexico and United States has been marked by the anti drug fight advanced by Calderón's government, which has caused 22.700 deaths from the 2006.

Calderón's predecessor, Vicente Fox, also went to a combined session of the American Congress in the 2001.
